Starting as a surf coast indie rocker 25 years ago, Claire has played with numerous bands including Paper Planes, Claire Birchall & The Phantom Hitchhikers, and True Sound, evolving into a respected, eclectic, internationally recognised artist. Claire’s critically acclaimed self-recorded solo albums have seen her experiment with all manner of sounds and instruments, invoking acoustic folk, indie fuzz rock, Casio pop, and most recently darkwave synth music.

Signed to Melbourne’s It Records, Claire released her first full synth album ‘Running In Slow Motion’ in 2020 to enthusiastic acclaim. Her highly anticipated follow up album ‘The Haunting’ is set for release in October this year.

Claire has recently debuted the brand new supergroup Fancy Weapon, in which she drums alongside Australian rock luminaries Joel Silbersher, Mick Turner and Guy Maddison. For the last 5 years, Claire has been Kim Salmon’s right hand woman on lead guitar, keys and backing vocals in Smoked Salmon.
